$100k Pork Chop Challenge

Terms and Conditions

The $100k Pork Chop Challenge is a contest administered by the Iowa Pork Producers Association, the North Carolina Pork Council, and the Virginia Pork Council (“The Sponsors”). The Sponsors want to celebrate and promote restaurants that are wowing patrons with their unique and delicious take on the allAmerican classic pork chop. That’s why The Sponsors have partnered with Fresh Coast, LLC (Fresh Coast) to spotlight the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area restaurants that offer outstanding pork chops.

The Sponsors are offering a $100,000 prize to the winning restaurant, as well as recognition. The winning restaurant will also have a donation of pork products made in its name to a DC-area food bank.

The $100k Pork Chop Challenge consists of three stages:

Nominations – Restaurants and restaurant patrons will nominate restaurants that feature menu items containing pork chops. Nominated restaurants that meet the eligibility criteria will receive marketing toolkits and be promoted on the $100k Pork Chop Challenge website.

People’s Pork Chop Award – The “People’s Pork Chop Award” contest will allow restaurant patrons and the public to vote for Washington, D.C., metropolitan area restaurants with dishes featuring pork chops on their menu. Voting will be online. Pork chop fans will be able to vote once per day during the four-week period to show their support for their favorite restaurants. The three to five restaurants that receive the most votes in the People’s Pork Chop Award contest will be recognized and advance to the final round of the $100k Pork Chop Challenge.

After the completion of the People’s Pork Chop Award contest, the Finalists will be evaluated by a panel of judges selected by The Sponsors. The panel will include culinary professionals and pork producers from Virginia, Iowa, and North Carolina. The Judges will evaluate the pork chop dish and the Nominee based on taste, tenderness, temperature, color, presentation, and other criteria established by the Judges.

The Judges will visit each of the Finalists over the course of July 11-12 to sample the Finalists’ pork chop dishes. After sampling all of the Finalists, the Judges will meet to share their scores and select the $100k Pork Chop Challenge Winner (the Winner).

The Winner will be notified by The Sponsors, and the public announcement will be made on July 23.

The winning restaurant will receive a prize of $100,000.00 (U.S. Dollars) and be recognized as the winner of the $100k Pork Chop Challenge. As part of the contest, The Sponsors will make donations of up to $100,000.00 worth of value to Washington, D.C., metropolitan area food banks. A portion of the donation will be made in the name of the $100k Pork Chop challenge-winning restaurant.
